Mupprt Show Guests: Where are they now???

Have you ever wondered what has happened to the guest stars of the Muppet Show? So have I! The show first aired in 1976 and a lot of the guest stars are no longer household names (and some of them NEVER WERE).
Below is an incomplete list of what the guest stars are up to now (last updated June 2003).

Did Carol Burnett Show, then original series of Mama's Family, and more recently does bit work, including one appearance with Tim Conway. Will be seen next in "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas" as the voice of Col. Slaghoople

Starred in "Murphy Brown" and Sprint commercials

Died on January 7 2002
of a heart attack

PETER USTINOV

Died on March 28th 2004 in Switzerland

VINCENT PRICE Died in 1993
RITA MORENO Still the only performer to have won at least one competitive Tony, Oscar, Emmy and Grammy. Just made her solo concert debut in NYC
ETHEL MERMAN Died 15th February 1984, possibly of a heart attack
CONNIE STEVENS Last seen selling cosmetics on a home shopping channel. Reports suggest she may also have recorded an album with her daughter
TWIGGY Recently starred in the London production of the Noel Coward musical, "If Love Were All"
BRUCE FORSYTH Still active as a quiz show host and entertainer in the UK.
FLORENCE HENDERSON Currently hosts the NBC morning show, "Later Today".
SANDY DUNCAN Currently starring in the Broadway revival of "Chicago".
BEN VEREEN  Recently seen singing on an ice-skating show on TV
KAYE BALLARD  Appeared in the NYC Paper Mill Playhouse production of Stephen Sondheim's Follies a couple of years ago. She also does frequent comedy guest spots on The Rosie O'Donnel Show.
VALERIE HARPER  Recently played Michael Mancini's mother on Melrose Place. Has recently finished filming a made for tv movie called "Mary and Rhoda."
JIM NABORS  Since his very successful liver transplant surgery in 1994, he has been back on the personal appearance circuit and has had
engagements with several orchestras including the Dallas and St. Louis Symphonies
PAUL WILLIAMS  Went on to score The Muppet Movie and The Muppet Christmas Carol. Has also appeared on CBS soap operas
CHARLES AZNAVOUR  Was scheduled to appear in a musical in London in February 2000

Founding member Andres Bossard died of AIDS in 1992. The remaining two are still performing in the Mummenschanz act, and have added two other members since Bossard's death.

MADELINE KAHN

Died from ovarian cancer in December 1999

BOB HOPE

Died of pneumonia in his sleep, July 2003 aged 100 years.

JUDY COLLINS

Still records and has written a few novels.

ZERO MOSTEL

Died in 1977 (before his TMS episode aired).

NANCY WALKER

Died in 1992

RUDOLF NUREYEV

Dead
LOU RAWLS Still records and tours.
JULIE ANDREWS Can no longer sing following throat surgery. Stars in an upcoming TV movie with James Garner.
PETER SELLERS Died in 1980
PETULA CLARK Still records and has appeared on Broadway in the musical "Blood Brothers" and on tour in "Sunset Boulevard"
TERESA BREWER She is semi-retired and hopes to reactivate her singing career (Click here for more info).
BERNADETTE PETERS Was in the mini series "The
Odyssey" and voiced Rita on the cartoon Animaniacs.
Currently on Broadway starring in the revival of "Annie Get Your Gun".
JOHN CLEESE Recently joined the James Bond movie series as gadget maker R and recently celebrated a Monty Python anniversary with the 4 other living members
DOM DELUISE Appeared on the late Shari Lewis's last TV show. Last seen in Baby Geniuses (1999)
EDGAR BERGEN Dead
JAYE P. MORGAN Recorded an album with Kaye Ballard in the early 90s called "Best Friends". More detailed info is available by clicking here
GEORGE BURNS Dead
CLORIS LEACHMAN Last seen in a production of Show Boat in Vancouver BC in 1998 and has been in the feature film "Music of the Heart" with Meryl Streep and the TV show 'Thanks'. Also recently heard as the voice of the teacher in Warner Bros.'s "The Iron Giant
RICH LITTLE In the US he can be seen on cable TV
hosting a long commercial (infomercial) for a video series on the Friars Club comedy roasts. Throughout he does many impressions
CLEO LAINE 

Awarded the honor of "Dame" in 1997. Still tours world with her husband, saxophonist John Dankworth. Just released two new albums (her fourth Carnegie Hall live album and her first Xmas album).
In the Autumn of 2000 she performed at her Theatre in Wavenden, which hosted the Side By Side By Sondheim 25th Anniversary Concert

MILTON BERLE 

Died in March 2002 aged 93

MARISA BERENSON Recently starred in the films Lonesome and Elles. She is also working on an autobiographical one woman broadway show. Tragically, her sister Berry, was killed in the first plane to crash into the twin towers on Sep 11th 2001. She has a strong cult following.
LESLIE UGGAMS Still records and recently toured with Ben Vereen! Performing in "Play On" (a musical) in New Jersey

Kris is still acting and was recently in the acclaimed "Lone Star".
Rita recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award in music at the Temucula Film & Music Festival held in September 2001

CHRISTOPHER REEVE

After being paralysed by a horse-riding accident, Christopher eventually died of a heart attack and also from complications related to his quadriplegia on October 10 2004

LIZA MINNELLI

Will make her Broadway comeback this December when her one woman musical opens entitled "Minnelli On Minnelli."

LYNDA CARTER Advertises contact lenses and recently appeared in "Super Troopers" as the Governer of Vermont
DOUG HENNING Died in February 2000 of liver cancer
DUDLEY MOORE Died in March 2002 after suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy.
ANNE MURRAY Still occassionally records, most recently 1999's "What A Wonderful World", a record of inspirational songs.
ALAN ARKIN Still appearing in movie roles, including Gross Point Blank
JONATHAN WINTERS

Has his own web site at http://www.jonathanwinters.com/.
He's apparently in filming for the new Rocky & Bullwinkle movie

LOLA FALANA Retired from show business and found God (as reported on Entertainment Tonight)
PHYLLIS GEORGE Currently hostess on a half-hour television show called Woman's Day on the new Paxnet TV network and is working on some other projects
CAROL CHANNING Received a Tony for lifetime achievement in the theatre just a couple of years back. She was also on Broadway and toured the world just a couple of years ago with her 30th anniversary production of Hello Dolly.
ANDY WILLIAMS Presently battling voice problems but is determined to
give his usual holiday shows. Has his own performance venue.
CRYSTAL GAYLE Still tours
SHIELDS & YARNELL Shields is now in Sedona Arizona, where he runs a number of businesses, including the Trickster Cafe, at which he often performs. He also designs jewellery, and paints and sculpts as well. His website is here
VICTOR BORGE Died in his sleep, December 2000 aged 91.
LINDA LAVIN Still very active in the Broadway theatre community, most recently starring as Anne Frank's mother in "The Diary of Anne Frank"

DYAN CANNON

Stars as Judge Jennifer "Whipper" Cone on Ally McBeal and was also on the show Three Sisters on NBC

ARLO GUTHRIE

Still performing and recording. He looks rather different though as you'll see if you visit http://www.arlo.net

JOHNNY CASH

Died September 2003

LINDA RONSTADT

Still records, most recently releasing a second album with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. Lives in Arizona and is a devoted mother.

ROGER MOORE

Was in SpiceWorld and is now starring in the syndicated TV series, "The Dream Team".

MAC DAVIS

He lives with his wife and two sons. Until recently he had his own radio show on KZLA in LA where he played "oldie" country music with many stars calling in to talk to him. He appears in many movies and in 1994 his last CD "Will Write Songs for Food" was released. He has many fans that miss him touring and hope he might start touring again once his sons are older.

JEAN-PIERRE RAMPAL

Died of heart failure in Paris on
May 20th 2000, aged 78.

PAUL SIMON

Still records and most recently wrote his first Broadway musical, "The Capeman", which did very poorly.

WALLY BOAG

Retired from Disneyland in 1982 after 27 years and more than 40,000 performances. Now lives with his wife Ellen in Santa Monica, CA. He still works for the Disney studio on occasion (he recently recorded a new voice track for the Tiki Room) and he was named a Disney Legend in 1995

SHIRLEY BASSEY Still records and tours Europe.
MELISSA MANCHESTER Still tours and records. Most recently released a Christmas album, "Joy" and had one of her songs sung on Barbra Streisand's most recent album.
LORETTA SWIT Still tours
GLENDA JACKSON Labour politician in the UK
JAMES COBURN Died November 18th 2002
GLADYS KNIGHT Still records, but has split from her Pips and gone solo.
JOAN BAEZ Still records and tours. Remains very politically active, as well.
GENE KELLY Died in 1996
MARTY FELDMAN Died December 2nd, 1982
BUDDY RICH Died in 1987
TONY RANDALL Still does occassional theatre and, in his mid 70's, is father to two toddlers!
SEÑOR WENCES Born Wenceslas Moreno, died in 1999 aged 103 and retired only in 1998. He had a remarkable 85 years as a ventriloquist, occasionally
popping up in Betty Grable films.
BROOKE SHIELDS Broke up with Andre Agassi and lost her TV series. Now doing Ivory soap commercials, the same brand she started out with as an infant model. She also has her own sitcom in the U.S. called "Suddenly Susan" and played Rizzo in the B'way revival of Grease and had a
starring role in the sitcom "Something So Right". She was also in THE MUPPET SHOW LIVE as part of the MuppetFest celebration weekend in December 2001
CHRISTOPHER LANGHAM Comedy writer and actor in the UK. Recently wrote and starred in British Sitcom 'Kiss me Kate'.
